1. Who you are dealing with
Al-Fajr Academia is not a company or an institution. It is one person teaching: Saeed Zafar, teaching students wherever they are, entirely online. When these terms say “I”, that is who they mean. When they say “you”, they mean the person enrolling.

These terms apply to this website and to every course taken with me. By enrolling, or by creating a student account, you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be got past, so please do read them.
Wherever you live, your own country's consumer protection law may give you rights that an agreement like this cannot take away. Nothing here is meant to. Where a clause of mine conflicts with such a right, your right wins and the rest of these terms carry on unaffected.
2. What a course is
A course consists of live online sessions, the recordings of those sessions, the set texts and materials for each unit, and written feedback on the work you hand in. Each course page sets out its modules and units, and that is what I undertake to deliver.
Sessions are small and built on discussion. I may reorder units, swap a set text for a comparable one, or move a session where the teaching calls for it. I will not quietly cut what was advertised; section 7 covers what happens if something has to change.
I teach a method, not an outcome. What you get out of a course depends on the work you put in. There is no degree here, no accredited qualification, no credential recognised by any authority, and no promise about where this takes you afterwards.
3. Enrolling, and your account
- You enrol by talking to me and agreeing a place on a named course. We have an agreement once I confirm your place in writing.
- Give accurate details and keep them current — access to materials is granted on the strength of them.
- Your login is yours alone. Do not share your password, your account, or what it gives you access to, with anybody: not a classmate, not a friend, not a family member.
- What happens under your account is your responsibility. If you think someone else has got into it, tell me at once and I will help you secure it.
- One person, one account. An account clearly being used by several people may be suspended under section 12.
- Enrol yourself only if you are 18 or over. Under 18, a parent or guardian enrols and is the party to this agreement.
4. What it costs
Nothing. Every course here is free, and no part of this platform charges you for anything, at any point, in any way.
- Fee
- None. Not to enrol, not per session, not per term.
- Materials
- None. Set texts, recordings and feedback are part of the course, not extras.
- Payment details
- Never asked for. I take no card, no bank details and no payment of any kind.
- Later
- Nothing starts charging you afterwards. There is no trial, no renewal and no upgrade.
If anyone ever asks you to pay for a place at Al-Fajr Academia, or for anything on this site, it is not me. Do not pay it, and tell me.
The only thing a place costs is that somebody else cannot have it. Sessions are small, so take a place meaning to use it.
5. Changing your mind
You can change your mind at any time, and it costs you nothing. You paid nothing, so there is nothing to refund, no notice period, no penalty and no argument. Tell me in writing — an email is plenty — and that is the end of it.
You do not owe me a reason. Give one if you want to; I will read it and learn from it, but nothing whatever depends on it.
Any cancellation right your own country's consumer law gives you stands on top of this, whatever this section says.
6. Leaving later
The same holds once a course is under way. Tell me in writing and your place ends, with nothing owed in either direction. Your access to that course's materials and recordings ends with it.
Missing a session is not leaving; the recording exists for exactly that reason. If life makes you step away for a while, talk to me about pausing rather than dropping out — that is usually arrangeable.
7. If I have to change or cancel something
If I cancel a course before it starts, or cannot continue one that has begun, I will tell you as early as I possibly can, and offer you a place on the next run of it where there is one.
A single session may occasionally move — illness, an emergency, a time zone collision. I will reschedule it or supply it as a recording. A moved session is not a cancelled one.
8. Recordings and materials
Recordings, slides, reading lists and handouts remain mine, or belong to the people I license them from. This is the section I ask you to take most seriously, because the whole thing runs on trust.
You may watch, read and download the materials for your own study for as long as you have access, and quote short passages elsewhere with attribution.
Please do not, without asking me first:
- share, forward, upload, post or sell any recording or material, or lend anyone your login;
- record, screen-capture or transcribe a live session yourself — other students are in that room, and their consent is not yours to give;
- use the materials to teach, whether you charge for it or not;
- put the materials into a machine-learning system for training;
- strip out or obscure any statement of who wrote something.
Access to recordings ends 12 months after your course ends. Breaking this section ends your access under section 12, and copyright law is available to me beyond that — though I would far rather never go near it.
9. Your own work
What you write stays yours. You keep the copyright in every essay, argument and project you produce here.
You allow me to read it, mark it, and discuss it within your cohort, because that is what teaching is. Publishing it anywhere — the Student Projects page or elsewhere — happens only if you agree in writing first. Declining costs you nothing and affects nothing, and you can change your mind later and have it taken down.
10. How we behave in a session
These courses work by disagreement, which only holds if a person can put an unpopular position and be answered rather than shouted at. So:
- Argue with the position, not the person holding it.
- Let people finish, especially when you think they are wrong.
- What a classmate says in a session is not yours to repeat outside it with their name on it.
- Hand in your own work. Passing off someone else's writing, or unattributed machine-generated text, as your own wastes the only thing you came here for.
- Harassment or abuse aimed at anyone's religion, ethnicity, sex, disability or origin ends your place immediately.
11. Availability
I aim to keep the site and the student portal running, but I cannot guarantee they are never down. Maintenance, a failure at my host, or something outside my control may interrupt access. If an interruption genuinely costs you access to a course, tell me and I will extend your access or get you what you missed another way.
12. Suspension and ending an enrolment
I may suspend or end your access if you break section 8 (sharing recordings or materials) or section 10 (conduct).
Unless what happened is serious enough to warrant immediate removal, I will tell you what the problem is and give you a fair chance to put it right first. You can end your own enrolment whenever you like under section 6.
13. What I am and am not responsible for
I do not limit my responsibility for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for dishonesty, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited — and nothing here touches consumer rights your own country gives you.
Beyond that: I am not responsible for indirect or knock-on losses, lost profit or lost opportunity, or for what you decide to do with what you learn. You pay me nothing, so there is no fee against which a claim could be measured; my responsibility is limited as far as the law permits, and not a step further.
I teach reasoning and argument. I do not issue legal, financial, medical or religious rulings, and nothing said in a session should be treated as one.
14. Your personal data
How I handle personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms and covers what I collect, why, how long I keep it, and what you can require of me.
15. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The version on this page when you enrol is the one that governs your enrolment. If I change them in a way that affects you, I will email enrolled students at least 30 days beforehand, and if you do not accept the change you may simply leave, owing nothing.
16. Settling a disagreement
Start by writing to me. Nearly everything is settled in one honest email, and I would far rather fix a problem than win an argument about it.
If that does not resolve it, the consumer protection law where you live applies to you, and you keep every right it gives you — including, in most places, the right to bring a claim in your own local courts. Free or low-cost consumer dispute schemes exist in most countries, and if you take a complaint to yours I will take part in it in good faith and abide by the outcome.
17. Odds and ends
- If a court finds one clause here unenforceable, the rest stands.
- Not enforcing something once does not mean I have given it up.
- You cannot transfer your enrolment to someone else without asking me.
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole of what we have agreed about your course.
18. Contact
Questions about these terms, notice that you are withdrawing, or a complaint: info@alfajr.se. It comes straight to me.
